About Megan

Megan Filo is currently based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A native of West Bend, Megan studied drumset, jazz music, and rudimental snare drum under Ben Hans. She continued her studies at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where she received a Bachelor's of Music with majors in Percussion Performance and Music Business & Recording Technology. At UWO, Megan studied under Dr. Alison Shaw and Dr. Elizabeth DeLamater and was very active in the Fox Valley music scene.

Aside from being principal percussionist in the University Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, she participated with the Symphony Orchestra, Steel Pan Ensemble, Western Percussion Ensembles, New Music Ensemble, and various World Percussion ensembles.

Megan won the prestegious UW Oshkosh Concerto Competition in 2015, playing Emmanuel Sejourne's Concerto for Marimba and Strings, and was a winning performer at the 2015 Honors Recital. She also performed state-wide with various jazz and rock groups. In 2014, she was a finalist in the international women's drumset competition, Hit Like a Girl.

Upon graduation in 2016, Megan moved to Nashville, Tennesse where she worked for Naxos Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. She performed and recorded with multiple jazz, blues, Motown, and rock groups and in 2018, began recording and touring with Chilean-born rock/pop singer, Catalina. She also studied steel pan under Mat Britain and performed with Vanderbilt University's top steel band ensemble.

Megan moved back to the Milwaukee area in 2021. She is currently a drumline instructor at West Bend High School, is a member of the Milwaukee Bucks' Bucks Beats drumline, and plays drumset with various groups in the area.
